In 2004, Chandra of CFH Design Studio became frustrated and conflicted by the state of the building frenzy in the Florida Panhandle. As the owner of a residential design business, it seemed at odds to question this growth machine that was providing a means of living, while simultaneously grinding away the natural beauty of the coast. Knowing that alternative building solutions were being explored in other parts of the country, Chandra set out on a journey to discover and bring home this knowledge.

The initial intent was to arrest destructive development - as if this were feasible. What transpired was an intricate journey that led to a fresh perspective on integrating natural and built environments, the discovery of self, and a desire to create truly sustainable communities.

Eco Design + Living was created as a portal for the communities and citizens of Northwest Florida  to connect with others and discover ways to live lighter on the planet in order that we and future generations of beings (human and other) may thrive in abundance. This website focuses on the built environment as it has the most impact - good or bad - on our living ecosystems. Lifestyle naturally accompanies how we build structures, since we live and work in the built environment.
